Who am I?
Hi there, I’m Izzi.
Having completed my Bachelors and Masters degrees, I am currently a PhD student at one of the UK’s top universities.
I also have had “severe and enduring” mental health problems since my teenage years, which have had (and still have) a large impact on my life and the lives of those around me.
As well as studying I do art in my spare time so I have posted some of my artwork on the site. Sometimes its hard to say things in words and my art helps me communicate my feelings better sometimes.
I decided to start this blog as a way of reaching out to those who are trying to study but are faced with the difficulties that having a mental illness can cause.
I by no means claim to know everything, but I will try my best to chronicle the problems that I have faced in the past and those that I still face every day, attempt to find solutions and/or ways of coping and be a source of comfort and support for the monumental challenges that those who are trying to study and have mental illness face every day.

I quit uni after two years because it was so difficult to cope with Bipolar Disorder too. I still got a diploma though. Bravo to you for getting to PhD!
